Organization Profile
Centre for the Research in Mathematics
Organization Overview
The Center for Research in Mathematics (CIMAT), is a scientific institution that forms part of the System of Public Centers of Research of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT).
CIMAT is dedicated to the generation, transmission and application of knowledge in mathematics, computer science and probability and statistics, therefore its main activity areas are Scientific Research, Technology Transfer and Postgraduate Academics.
The Center is located in Guanajuato, a city known city for its rich colonial architecture and cultural activities.
Both Mexico City and Guadalajara, two of the most important cities in the Country are within 400 km of distance. Guanajuato´s population is close to 150 thousand people.
Notable Accomplishments / Recognition
Our research oriented Master´s and Doctorate programs are qualified in the National Register of Quality Graduate Programs; almost all of our researchers are part of the National Researchers System, both of the National Council for Science and Technology of Mexico.
Researchers participate actively in international academic events. Some of the 2011 events with participations from CIMAT are:
* International Workshop on Dynamics Beyond Uniform Hyperbolicity 2011, France.
* Ergodic Optimization Workshop, Banff International Research Station, Canada
* Seventh Seminar on Stochastic Analysis, Random Fields and Applications, Stefano Franscini Center, Switzerland
CIMAT has been rewarded with the realization of the first edition of the Mathematical Congress of the Americas, to be held in August, 2013, in Guanajuato, Mexico.
